Unli-Yang Chow Fried Rice at Super Bowl of China

Image
"Rice is Life"  and that's a fact. I believe that most Asians would agree with me that no meal will ever be complete without rice. Personally, fried rice is my weakness. As a kid, a meal immediately becomes extra special whenever Mommy would cook her signature fried rice. It's nothing fancy but it's a very garlicky rice with hotdog, ham, spring onions and egg. It has a distinct taste that I know only Mommy can make. In fact, I tried to recreate it several times when I was living in Singapore but I could never get close to the real thing. That's what makes it truly amazing. So, given my immense love for fried rice. I couldn't pass up the chance to check out Super Bowl of China 's Unlimited Yang Chow Fried Rice promotion. It ends on 30 March 2018 so please hurry over TODAY or the next few days. Paul and I took a quick Mommy and Daddy break from our twins for a nice dinner out. I haven't been to Super Bowl of China  for years but I do recall my ...

White-Inspired Birthday Dinner at Choi Palace in Eastwood, Libis

Image
One reason why I always look forward to celebrating my birthday is because I get to try a number of new restaurants on my list and I have the perfect excuse to eat out and splurge! With that, I really give a lot of effort on thinking of places to treat my families and dear friends in. My birthday celebration began two Sundays ago when Irene and I treated the club to an afternoon merienda at Bag of Beans in Tagaytay . I love their Shepherd's Pie, Hot Chocolate and Bread! I'm glad that the rest of The Foodie Club enjoyed our simple merienda treat too. This was followed with an intimate Chinese dinner with my best friend T, my sister Pan and of course, my husband Paul at the newly-opened Choi Palace at the Eastwood Mall . What made this dinner interesting was the fact that my friend T, who just had her teeth whitened, is not allowed to eat anything colored. Thus, I spent the entire morning racking my brain on where we should have our dinner. While others may find this qu...

Cafe Ilang-Ilang of the Manila Hotel Blooms

Image
There's a different feel the moment you step into the big wooden doors of Manila Hotel . The historical nostalgia that gives you a sense of the old yet with a touch of the new. I remember hanging out at the lobby with my family as we enjoy our tall glasses of Halo-halo on a warm summer day. I love walking into their big wooden bathroom doors and the fact that they're the only hotel back then that had a dispenser for disposable toilet covers. It's amazing how Manila Hotel continues to keep up with time. I've witnessed this during my lunch at Cafe Ilang-Ilang a few days ago. While there are more and more hotels offering irresistible buffet choices, I believe that Cafe Ilang-Ilang is one hotel buffet that you should consider and here are some reasons why: They have 9 (yes counted them all!) stations to choose from. From kimchi, bulgogi and chap chae...You'd be transported to Seoul without having to ride an airplane. I love their Chinese station where I couldn...

Lucky on Three at Crystal Jade Manila

Image
I'd consider myself a loyal diner. After having a wonderful dining experience with delicious food and impeccable service rendered, expect that I will definitely be back again and again bringing in friends and relatives who are eager to try after hearing my non-stop raves. That's how passionate I am about restaurants that I love. Not only will I blog about it here, I'd definitely keep on talking about it as well. Such is the case with Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao , the newest addition to my list of favorite restaurants in the Metro. The buzz about Crystal Jade coming to Manila began spreading like wildfire late last year. Initially, just like Happy Lemon, people were not sure which foreign restaurant is coming in. Guesses where thrown here and there and finally, last September, Crystal Jade opened its door to a long long long line of waiting customers. I've been wanting to try Crystal Jade since it first opened but after a couple of failed attempts, I...

Eat Well .. The Saga Continues

Image
As they say, the third time's a charm. My first visit to Eat Well , I fell in love with their Shrimp Puff with Wasabi Mayo. A couple of weeks after, I brought Paul with me and we loved the Xiao Long Pao and their Yang Chow Fried Rice. Last week, I met up with two of my best friends at Eat Well and we had a feast! Trina, was a regular patron and she knows the best dishes to order. We started off with two baskets of steaming Xiao Long Pao (Php. 175/8pcs). Just the same way it captured my heart the first time, I continued to enjoy slurping the yummy soup inside the thick wrapper and later enjoying the soft ground meat inside. After our dimsum appetizer, we got two types of soup: Braised Spinach Soup with Seafood (Php. 88) and Hot and Sour Soup (Php. 88). We enjoyed alternating between the two. I love it that their soup is not loaded (or is actually cooked without) with MSG that it did not leave us thirsty after the meal. Yum! Spying our neighboring table, I noticed tha...

Eat Well: We shall return...and we did!

Image
I promised I will be back and true enough, not long after my first visit, I found myself this time with Paul at Eat Well . It was the day of our Marriage Preparation Seminar at the church and with only an hour provided for lunch, we had to choose a restaurant that can serve food fast! Paul has been curious about Eat Well since the night that I first dined there, keeping with my promise, we headed straight to the restaurant which was located right across the street from where we were having our seminar. Despite the fact that the restaurant was filled with customers already, we were able to get a table at the second floor. It was a good thing the menu was handed to us the moment we sat down. Scanning the menu, we chose the Xiao Long Pao (Php. 88), the Yang Chow fried rice (Php. 155), my favorite -- Shrimp Puff with Wasabi Mayo (Php.288) and the Sweet and Sour Pork (Php. 180). While resting after coming from the first-half of quite an intensive seminar, our orders arrived shortly a...
