Everything with Fries at Holland Village

Image
"If only Pan and T were here with me, this would probably be their wonderland." This was the thought that entered my mind when Paul, O and I decided to have lunch at Everything with Fries . A quick look at their menu will tell you that they're taking this fries-loving quite seriously and staying true to their name, almost every item in the menu comes with a generous serving of fries. Yes, you can have a rice meal with fries, a burger with fries, a pasta dish with fries and more! Matching the relaxed vibe of Holland Village, dining at Everything with Fries will give you that laid-back feel as you enjoy your meal with friends and family. Service was good as our server was pretty much attentive to our every need.

Cheese Steak Shop lands in Makati City

Image
I've tried a number of Philly Cheese Steaks in the past but I never really got around to learning about its history. It was until that fateful evening when Paul and I got an invite to have dinner at the Cheese Steak Shop in Makati where we were told of the Philly Cheese Steak story and how it finally found its way here in Manila, Philippines. Given the name, this sandwich originated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by a couple who began serving thinly sliced steaks and cheese in a long sandwich bun. Very similar to a hotdog sandwich, the craze about this meaty sandwich spread like wildfire and soon Philly Cheese Steaks are not only available in Philadelphia but in other states all around the USA as well. Take Cheese Steak Shop for instance. It originated in San Francisco 29 years ago (yes, same age as me!) and makes use of authentic ingredients such as their Amoroso rolls and Tastykakes which are shipped all the way from Philadelphia. Here in Manila, we have owner Mai Uy to...

Mad Mark’s : Man Sandwich + Frozen D in Pasig

Image
Welcome to Brgy. Kapitolyo in Pasig – the newest foodie haven in town. Believe me, a trip down East Capitol Drive is like a gastronomical journey around the world. Start from the corner of Pioneer you’ll see Nav and Uncle Moe’s which will give you really delicious Thai and Mediterranean dishes respectively. Drive further down and you’ll hit Kainan Au Gusto and Café Juanita located just around the corner for our local Pinoy fare. As you continue with your drive, you’ll see The Three Sisters' restaurant, the place to get really yummy Pork BBQ and Pancit Bihon and my latest fave – Milky and Sunny , an all-day breakfast nook. Go on another block and you’ll see another line of restaurants like Poco Deli for some cheese and sausages while Lia’s Cakes in Season makes a great dessert stop. Care for some burgers? Charlie’s Grill and Grind is located right across and is right beside Bacolod’s Café Bob’s Manila version – Cab Café . There’s still a couple of restaurant left for m...

In-N-Out Burger in California, USA

Image
As Paul and I enjoyed our trip around California a.k.a. Burger Land, of course, we didn't pass up the chance to try one of their famous fast food burger chains -- In-N-Out Burger . I couldn't believe my eyes as I would see a line of cars outside the restaurant and a line of people inside at any given time of the day. We would pass by the nearest In-N-Out Burger in the morning and there's already a line of cars waiting at the drive-thru counter and when we head back home at night, the line just gets longer and longer. I asked my cousin-in-law J about it and he told me that that's actually a daily scenario at In-N-Out ! Wow! Business is really good for them! Their menu is simple, you get to choose among three types of burgers: Hamburger, Cheeseburger and the famous Double-Double burger . Add some fries or maybe a milkshake basically that's how simple their menu line up is. Yet, people just wants their burgers fresh, fast and delicious. No frills, no add-ons and...

Twist and Shout at Johnny Rockets

Image
Johnny Rockets may have been around since they first opened at the Eastwood Mall two years ago but it was my first time there after checking out Robinsons Galleria 's newest wing called the Veranda , two weeks ago. Why I love the Veranda . It has it's own parking space! Note though that for those who are planning to shop after dining at any of the outlets here, the rate may be a bit higher as compared to parking in their basement parking lot. However, it gives you direct access to the numerous restaurants available and this is perfect especially when you're very hungry just like how I was when my sister and I visited that day.  As we were deciding on where to eat, we noticed that there was loud music coming from one particular restaurants and the servers where all outside dancing. Yes, they were dancing and clapping and cheering. What a happy sight! We scanned the menu and later on decided to give Johnny Rockets a try. We were told that their serving is quite big ...

Burning taste buds at Flaming Wings

Image
After reading reviews made by fellow Club members namely Jane , Rowena and Richard , who all had nothing but raves about Flaming Wings , Paul and I knew that we have to schedule a visit to try it SOON. A couple of weeks after the Club went, we scheduled to have a casual dinner date in this popular buffalo wings spot located right at the heart of Katipunan Avenue. We arrived a little past 7 on a Saturday night and the place was jam-packed! Luckily, we found our little table for two and immediately scanned the menu. We zeroed in on the buffalo wings and decided to get the 5 pcs. basket (Php. 235). After learning from my fellow bloggers that 5 pieces buffalo wings means 10 cuts, we requested the server to split this into two different sauces -- Smokey BBQ and Mild n' Sweet . Paul's a huge fan of barbecue flavored dishes and this was his first choice upon reading the menu. He paired this with Ranch dip which I think was a perfect choice. We ate this with gusto and enjoye...

Munching our way to Burger Avenue

Image
Deciding on where to have dinner one evening, I simply asked Paul , "What do you feel like having tonight -- Burger or Pizza?" He immediately said, "I think I'm craving for burger." So burger it was! Actually we both have been craving for burger a week ago but after a failed attempt to order burgers over at a neighborhood burger stop, we are determined to satisfy our craving that evening. Since we were already in Makati for some errands before dinner, I suggested that we pass by A. Venue Mall to check out Burger Avenue . This was highly recommended to us by our friends R and L. Find a parking spot at A.Venue was a breeze! Probably because we were there on a weeknight but with an underground and outside parking, it's highly unlikely that you would have to spend a lot of time looking for an empty parking slot. Welcome to Burger Avenue Burger Avenue is located at the far end of the mall. Don't worry, the mall is not that big and it wouldn't be a chall...

Oishii : Sango! The Burger Master

Image
Just recently, Paul and I went on a Chinese food fest all weekend with Le Ching and Eat Well . This time, we're saying irrashaimase and arigato gozaimasu as we're both craving for Japanese food! After getting all sentimental and dramatic after watching Valentine's Day , we walked out of the cinema thinking of where to eat. I spotted the bright yellow vendo machine and a couple of cute origami pieces that I suddenly blurted, "let's go to Sango !", to which Paul immediately agreed. While we have been to Sango a couple of times before, we both agree that it's about time to go back and to enjoy their famous Master Burger and perhaps a cup of their refreshing Strawberry Soda . Normally, I would get my favorite Yakiniku Rice Burger but I decided to try something else that evening. Obviously taking a long long time in front of the self-order machine, the friendly server called us over and offered to assist us with our orders. Paul got the Master Cheese Bu...

Burger lovers unite at the Bite Club

Image
It was pretty late in the afternoon when our shoot ended. Feeling a bit tired and hungry, we decided to grab something to eat. Since my sister, a proud Blue Eagle , knows Katipunan Avenue inside and out, we allowed her to take care of choosing where to stop for our hunger-fill. We finally decided to bring out our carnivorous side as we stopped at Bite Club for our late afternoon snack. As mentioned before , it wasn't long ago since I've re-joined the beef-loving community after five years of hiatus. I never looked back since then. So there we were inside Bite Club's receiving area browsing their laminated back-to-back menu. Since it was our first time in their Metro Manila branch (the other branch was in sunny Boracay) , we went all out and got the humongous XXX burger with Garlic and Cheese dressing (Php. 260) to share . For all Bite Club newbies, the XXX is actually a 1 pound burger filled with your choice of toppings. It's really for those with a hungry ...

Childhood Favorite: Chilis' Chicken Crispers

Image
I guess it's no longer a secret how much I love to eat out. I honestly find sheer excitement in being able to visit a new food spot and I am always game to try a new dish. However, there are also times when I just want to sit back and relax. These are the moments wherein I would just like to enter a restaurant, allow the server to lead me to a familiar spot and even without opening the menu, I already know what I'm getting and I'm 100% sure that I'll like love it. There are just a handful of restaurants that fall under this list. These are the ones who have proven their consistency and quality of service through the years. These are also the ones that have been around for more than a decade or so. Take Chilis Grill & Bar for example. Located along a busy street outside the Greenhills Commercial Center, this restaurant has been our regular hangout back in high school. It has been our venue for group dates, barkada dinners and class reunions. Funny that no matter ho...
