Authentic Japanese Feast at Soru Izakaya

Image
"I miss this." This was what Paul told me one afternoon as we were driving to an event without the kids. Recently, I learned something new about marriage. No matter how many kids you already have, never forget your role as a husband/wife to your other half. Since I gave birth to my twins, I guess it's pretty obvious that they became the center of our world. Day in and out, we have been so busy helping each other in taking care of them. Add to the fact that we have been quite unlucky in getting a reliable nanny till lately as we finally have Yaya M. Thankful also for my in laws who willingly help us watch the twins as we work and go about our day, Paul and I took a quick lunch date one day. I was also badly craving for sushi and I got to admit that it's hard to find a reasonably priced sushi that's of good quality too. Most of the reputable Japanese restaurants that we got in our area have menu items priced pretty steep. This made me recall one of the lunch dat...

Bridge -- Restaurant & Bar in Seah Street

Image
A couple of weeks ago, I was invited by fellow blogger E for a nice dinner tasting at Bridge . The direction to the restaurant was pretty simple -- it's along Seah street, behind Raffles Hotel. That was easy! As much as I love hole in the wall cafes in far-flung a.k.a. unexpected places, I do appreciate those that are strategically located right in the city. This area is accessible by foot whether you're coming from the City Hall district, Bugis or if you just love to walk... even from Clarke Quay. This is one reason why I thought the restaurant's name meant that it was the " bridge " in between the North Bridge Road and the South Bridge Road. Oh silly me! Apparently, Bridge is a restaurant that bridges the gap between fine-dining and the bistro scene. Now that makes a lot of sense! It's known for its extensive brunch and for our dinner that evening, we had a preview of the delicious dinner repertoire that they offer as well. Dinner began with a pla...

Hong Kong: Yeh Lam Kwok

Image
Every minute spent in Hong Kong is precious. Sure, we had four days to enjoy this lovely city but with so much sights to see, restaurants to try and malls to visit, not even a week is enough to explore Hong Kong entirely. We didn’t waste time indeed, from the moment our plane landed and having checked in at Cosmo Kowloon Hotel , we headed straight to Causeway Bay for lunch and shopping. We heard that Sogo was having a big sale and with that, I was determined to check the items out. Unfortunately we arrived in the afternoon – too late for the eager crowd. There was already a sea of shoppers making it unable for us to move around freely. After getting pushed and shoved at left and right, Paul and I left Sogo in less than two minutes. We strolled around the area and admired the pretty displays outside WTC more. Causeway Bay is one of our favorite places to visit in Hong Kong. Together with Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon, these two areas are the counterparts of Singapore’s Orchard Road a...
