IKEA Singapore Pyjamas Party

Image
For those who have watched the movie 500 Days of Summer starring Zooey Deschanel and my ex-boyfriend Joseph Gordon-Levitt, you probably also loved this scene: Paul and I are regular shoppers of IKEA . It's highly possible that someday, we will be able to furnish our future home with IKEA furniture pieces and items as it has been our go-to place since our 1st day here in Singapore. We would joke that if only we can live in IKEA, we probably would go for it. Well, who would have thought that the opportunity would come for us to "spend the night" in IKEA? A week ago, Paul and I were chosen to be one of the lucky few to join the exclusive IKEA Pyjamas Party . It was a 4-hour event starting at 11PM and we were told to come in..what else?!...our PJs. We were too shy though so we just went in our comfy t-shirt and shorts. Well, some were really brave and came in their full PJs complete with fluffy bedroom slippers! This event was to launch the 2015 IKEA catalogue also...

A Swedish Christmas Dinner at IKEA Alexandra

Image
"What?! IKEA Again ?!?" This was my entire team's reaction when I told them one afternoon that I'm heading to IKEA after work. No, they weren't over-reacting and I don't blame them for the disbelief too. IKEA is one of my favorite places here in Singapore and I just love shopping and eating here. I'm glad that Paul shares the same fascination for this Swedish home store too that we would frequent it at least every other week and immediately signed up to be part of the IKEA Family Club weeks upon moving in to the Lion City. As we were busy buying gifts last Christmas, we somehow managed to visit IKEA 3 times in one week. Thus, the shock from my team when they found out I'm going back to IKEA again . So, to celebrate the yuletide season, Paul and I invited our friends I, O and C as well as our cousin J to join us for a fun Swedish dinner at IKEA last December 19. This Christmas Dinner ran for only two days and they had only two sittings per day. ...

Thinking of what to prepare for dinner....again? Check out Yummy.ph , Yummy Magazine 's official online portal. This site gives readers more easy-to-do recipes, additional cooking and baking lessons and they can also read blogs and stories written by the Yummy editors, contributors and guest chefs. At present, my browser automatically opens to this site as I get daily recipes that I can prepare for dinner tonight. Since my trip to Singapore last month, I have been craving for IKEA's Swedish Meatballs and I was sooooo happy to see that today's recipe is actually a dish called Swedish Meatballs and Pasta from Chef Carina Guevara. I'm definitely printing this one out and will prepare this during the weekend! Visitors should also watch out for their cool online contests!! Remember the recently concluded writing contest that sent one lucky reader and his companion to Hong Kong for the HK Food and Wine Festival ? Right now, they're giving away 5 sets of Yummy Books to w...

Falling in love for the Third Time : IKEA @ Alexandra

Image
We arrived a little before lunch at Singapore and after getting word that we can't check into our hotel rooms yet, Paul and I have decided to begin our Living lah Singapore adventure right there and then. First stop was at IKEA along Alexandra road . Upon hearing that I wanted to go to IKEA, Paul suddenly panicked thinking that I will be lugging a huge home furniture on our flight home. I assured him that I was really after the food after hearing a lot of raves from friends and colleagues. So following the directions given by friendly locals, we took the escalator up to the second floor and followed the crowd that finally led us to the IKEA Restaurant ! There was a long line and there were hardly any table available, not wanting to give up, I grabbed Paul's hand and led him towards the end of the line as we browsed through the menu while waiting. Of course, being in Singapore means enjoying the efficiency of its workers. In less than two minutes we have reached the se...
