From Paris with Love: Angelina Singapore in Capitol Galleria

Image
I've always wanted to go to Paris . In my mind, I've envisioned it to be very laid back yet stylish. Where beautiful people would hang out at the outdoor cafes dressed in the latest fashion styles and they would leisurely enjoy their cup of coffee and some pastry. Of course, there's Angelina . One of two food places that has been on my list for years. I've heard about Angelina's famous Hot Chocolate and had a taste of a replica years back. The replica was pretty good so I had extremely high expectations for the real thing. Visiting Paris might come in the next few years but luckily, Angelina came to me earlier than expected. Angelina opened its first Southeast Asian store here in Singapore just a month ago at very posh Capitol Galleria (beside Capitol Piazza). Its opening has been much awaited by all local food-lovers including yours truly and my hubby Paul. So, last Sunday, we met up with our friend D for Afternoon Tea. Back at La Marea Pastry Shop in Cebu

I once said that my Papa is a creature of habit most especially when it comes to his dining preferences. Well, I guess the apple does not fall far from the tree as I would catch myself going through certain routines once in a while. Take for example every trip I make to Cebu City. Three things are for sure: First, I get to eat lechon (lots of it!). Secondly, I have to hoard on bags of chicharon to take home with me. Lastly, I always have to visit La Marea Pastry Shop in Crossroads, Banilad. Such was the case again during our recent visit to the Queen City of the South last December. After having a nice romantic dinner at Maya Mexican Restaurant , Paul and I walked over to La Marea Pastry Shop for dessert! Of course, after all those years hearing my raves about it, it's finally time for Paul to have his own taste of La Marea's Warm Brownie Cup .

My family can be pretty picky when it comes to enjoying Filipino food. Back when we were kids, the only two restaurants that have successfully garnered the seal of approval of my food-loving grandpa and mom were Harana of the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel and Kamayan . However, as soon as a restaurant gets our two thumbs-up, they can be assured of long-lasting loyalty from the entire family. This was the case with the two previously mentioned restaurants-- Harana was our regular Sunday dinner venue where we all grew fond of its delicious Laing, Sinigang soup and Garlic Rice. Our Sundays would begin with an afternoon tea session at the lobby of EDSA Shangri-la where the adults would catch up with one another while the kids were taught how to enjoy tea sandwiches and an assortment of mini pastries and scones. My sister and I loved the sugar cubes that would be served together with our tea. After which, we will be allowed to roam around the hotel and play by the pool side. Come dinner time, t...
