Saveur Art at ION Orchard, Singapore

Image
Two years. That's how long ago since I've bid good bye to my family, friends and colleagues in Manila which also means how long Paul and I have been here in the Lion City. It's really amazing to note how fast time flies and the number of things that can happen in just a span of 730 days. I can still remember my first month in Singapore. We were slowly adjusting to the different bus routes from our area to work and we are pretty much clueless when it comes to the new restaurants and the must-tries around. I have to say that we got to hand it to our very helpful friends who have made adjusting in this lovely city pretty much stress-free. I have to admit that we still miss Manila greatly. The people, the food, the culture and even our way of life and comfort back home. However, moving out of our very sheltered world has taught us a bunch of things. Being independent  is one of them and along with it comes a great dose of maturity . These are the two things we will continue...

The Marmalade Pantry in ION Orchard

Image
Before flying home for the holidays, Paul and I met up with cousin J for our own Christmas brunch. Since we all have The Entertainer App , and you all must probably know by now how much I love it, we quickly went for The Marmalade Pantry for it's 1-for-1 deals. I tell you, having the Entertainer App has changed my life! With close to a thousand dining establishments, it has made every weekend much more fun as we would gamely try a new restaurant around town. I've lost count of the number of establishments that I've tried but seeing that I've saved about S$400 within 4 months was strong enough to tell me how often I've been using the app. Let me talk more about the app some other time and let us turn the limelight back to our Sunday brunch at The Marmalade Pantry . Located at ION Orchard, this cafe/restaurant seems to always have a permanent queue at its entrance. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long as we got to the restaurant a few minutes before the real br...

TWG Tea Company, Singapore

Image
TWG Tea Company was established here in Singapore and the funny thing is, the first time I finally went to try it was during my sister's recent visit as she agreed to meet up with her college buddy R for an after-dinner night cap. Being the protective sister that I was, I just can't leave her alone so I insisted to tag along whether they like it or not. Well... another reason is because I was dying to finally try TWG too!  *evil laugh* So, we got there an hour and a half before their ION Orchard branch closes. We promised the server that we will be quick and we just want to have some tea and cakes. Look how pretty the store is! The entrance is lined with the wide array of TWG flavors available on one side and a long line of pretty colorful macarons on the other. Oh, this is such a pretty, dainty place for a girly catch-up.  As soon as R arrived, we wasted no time in ordering our desserts and drinks. They had a rather complex menu of tea blends and sensing our conf...

Gimme Four! : 4 Fingers in Plaza Singapura, Singapore

Image
Given my slight OCD nature, I rarely eat with my bare hands. Yes, somehow I've learned to eat everything with the use of a spoon and fork, fork and knife and at times even with a pair of chopsticks. Friends would watch in amazement (or more like amusement) as I would enjoy my fries with a fork or crabs with fork and knife. Back in high school, I would manage to finish my spaghetti lunch while using a pair of chopsticks without any stains on my white and blue uniform. This talent I've inherited from my equally neat freak Papa. It was when I married Paul that I somehow learned to "loosen up and enjoy life", as he would proudly claim. This simply meant me learning to use my hands to fully enjoy eating a piece of drumstick or to get the itsie-bitsie crab meat pieces out. It took a while, I tell you, but at present I've learned to control my OCD tendencies and to just enjoy my food to the fullest. Perhaps, I still have my hesitations but if there's one food i...

Falling in love for the Third Time : Orchard Road

Image
If there's one road that would undoubtedly be mentioned when discussions about traveling to Singapore arises, it would be... Orchard Road . This is Singapore's biggest shopping and entertaining district where malls after malls line up the street and a lot of activities are happening here and there. Just imagine seeing a huge Louis Vuitton store to your left and a glamorous outlet of Cartier to your right. If Becky Bloomwood would find herself in Singapore and right at the heart of Orchard Road, she would probably feel like she's in retail heaven! Getting to Orchard Road Traveling around Singapore is a breeze! Getting to Orchard Road may be done either via bus, MRT or taxi. There's actually an MRT station that brings you directly to Orchard Road and from the there you can choose which mall you would like to visit first as almost every mall in this road is connected via the underground walkway. Talk about convenience to the highest level! Shop until you drop Years ago, ...
