#FrannyCooks : Japanese Beef Curry with House Foods

Image
I love Japanese curry! The kind that's really creamy with a hint of spicy note and one that goes so well with fried meat and rice..yes lots and lots of RICE. I remembered how eating at Go Go Curry in Tokyo was actually one of the highlights of our trip. This goes side by side with that swanky sushi bar that Paul took me to or that delicious bowl of tendon where it took us more than 2 hours waiting time just to get two seats in the house.  Nursing my twins always leaves me really hungry and craving for random things. It's like I'm pregnant all over again only I wasn't this hungry when I was carrying them in my womb! Lately, I've been eating like there's no tomorrow and I'm so thankful that I still manage to lose weight despite eating so much. Hooray for the calories burned while breastfeeding my twins!  Recently, I got a couple of boxes from House Foods  which are all Japanese Curry sauces in two different variation. The Vermont Curry is mea...

Tai Cheong Bakery opens Cha Chaan Teng in Holland Village

Oh how I miss Hong Kong so so so much! It's always so exciting to go to Hong Kong as there's just an endless supply of good food. It's pretty much Singapore's version in the Northern part of Asia. One thing though that I never really got around to doing when in Hong Kong is to have breakfast at a cha chaan teng . This is because of two things: Paul and I rarely get to wake up really early to make it to breakfast or if ever we're up and ready for breakfast, we would always go for congee instead -- one thing that the both of us grew up having during our respective trips to Hong Kong when we were kids. So, when I heard the great news that Tai Cheong Bakery  finally opened a full-serviced cha chaan teng  restaurant in Holland Village, I didn't missed the opportunity to check it out. By the way, cha chaan teng   means Hong Kong-style teahouse and it's known to served buttered toasts and the very traditional macaroni with luncheon meat soup. Remember how mu...

Bubbling bubbles at Bubble Tea!

I grew up learning how to appreciate tea and loving the different tea variants that has entered the market. This goes way back when my family would spend our Sunday afternoon tea bonding with each other at a hotel lobby. While the parents chit-chat, we kids munched on scones, canapes and mini tea sandwiches as we drank cups and cups of tea. At times, we would have dimsum for lunch and together with all of our steamed favorites, we would fill up our teacups with hot tea, be it chrysanthemum, jasmine or oolong. Just lately, you've witnessed how fond I was over a neighborhood milk tea shop where I would make it a point to buy myself a large cup of Hokkaido Milk Tea on my way home from work. This went on for quite some time and I've influenced a number of friends in the process . My tea addiction can be pretty infectious. Before this neighborhood milk tea though, I came across a cute Japanese-looking store at the basement of SM Megamall . It was my sister who first discov...

A new love at Pepper Lunch

Image
My love affair with Pepper Lunch goes way back in 2008 when it first opened at the Power Plant Mall. Since then I've been fond of their Double Beef Pepper Rice, the Salmon, Chicken and a lot more! I also love their desserts and ice cream! Recently, I revisited their Shangri-la Mall branch with the goal to try something else. Following the lead of fellow bloggger Richard , I got the Double Beef Curry Rice (Php 266) and I found myself falling madly in love with it. I love the rich spicy taste of the rice and the tender meat that somehow melts in your mouth. How I wish their double beef though is really double in quantity as we couldn't tell the difference between this and the regular serving. Still, I was in curry beef heaven. I loved it so much that I had to sweet talk Paul into taking me back to Pepper Lunch the next day. Yep! I had Pepper Lunch for two consecutive days and I was a happy camper. :) With my BIG day fast approaching, I seriously have to put a hold on m...
