World Street Food Congress 2015 in Singapore

Image
Last week was definitely a gastronomic one here in sunny Singapore . Thanks to the 24 food stalls who opened shop for 5 glorious days as part of the World Street Food Congress 2015  in the Bugis district . After 2 years of attempting to check this event out, Paul and I finally made it! Of course, we will never miss this year's jamboree for anything as we're ready to show our all-out support to our dear friend and favorite Lechon Diva, Dedet of Pepita's Kitchen along with fellow Pinoys, Chef Claude Tayag of Bale Dutung and Top Chef winner Paul Qui of East Side King .  The event opened last Tuesday at 5PM and believe it or not, Pepita's Kitchen's Truffled Lechon Diva was all sold out an hour and a half after! My heart sank the moment I got to the event grounds and Dedet apologetically told me they're all sold out. Awww mannn! Lechon with Truffled Rice.

Snack Time: Herr's Cheese Curls in Manila!

Look what I've been munching on lately! I know, I've welcomed the year with a promise to lessen my junk food snacking but I guess it's okay to give in to my monthly craving for yummy munchies once in a while right? Well, as my husband would say, smart snacking is the way to go! We have began choosing chips that are baked, have no trans fat or have lower sodium in it vs. it's less healthy counterparts. What a perfect timing that my friend and fellow blogger R sent over a couple of bags of Herr's during our last visit to Manila! I instantly recognized Herr's as those buckets of cheese curls that we would hoard in S&R! Ohhh I love love love Herr's Cheese Curls! Well, did you know that Herr's is made of pure corn meal and is baked to perfection. I guess this is one of the very few corn products that I can eat without getting sick. It doesn't make use of artificial preservatives/flavoring too! I just love being able to enjoy this without ge...

Homecoming Finds : Dojo Dairy Japanese Ice Cream

When it comes to celebrating the holidays, of course, we're talking about having a mouthwatering spread of savory and sweet dishes. This is probably the reason why people would say that we, Filipinos, do take Christmas seriously as this is the season of endless merry-making and non-stop eating. Case in point, on the day that Paul and I landed in Manila, we were greeted with this black insulated bag sitting prettily inside our freezer. While the look was really simple and doesn't evoke much excitement at a glance, seeing the name printed on the bag was enough to make my heart leap and do a million cartwheels.  Of course, who can ever say no to ice cream? Much more... Japanese Ice Cream! When it comes to food, I love anything Japanese. From sticky glutinous mochis to flavoured Kit Kats, from the spongey Tokyo Banana to the creamy Hokkaido Ice Cream. I love how the Japanese gives so much attention to detail. From the quality of the ingredients used, to the flavor and f...

Grocery Pick: Kewpie Deep-Roasted Sesame Dressing

Image
I'm a big salad fan! It's simply because my parents trained us to appreciate eating vegetables at a very young age that a meal at home is not complete without having veggies. What I love most though is having bowls of fresh lettuce and arugula mixed with my favorite ingredients -- kani sticks, chopped sweet mangoes, nuts, shrimps and mushroom! Of course, what makes or breaks a bowl of salad is the dressing! Paul and Mommy loves vinaigrette dressings while I still love the creamy ones. So much for wanting to eat healthy by having salad dinners! I love my Caesar, Ranch, Asian...you name it! Last Friday, while having dinner at my in-laws, I was able to try a new salad dressing that was so fragrant and good that I just ended up having loads of salad and grilled lamb for dinner. It's a Japanese Deep-Roasted Sesame Dressing   and is said to be made of wheat, eggs, soybean and lots of sesame oil! It's from the same company called Kewpie that also makes those delicious ...
