Damaso Residencia : Private Dining by Chef Bambi Sy Gobio

Image
November is finally here and for the past weeks, Mommy has been bugging us to organize a Thanksgiving Dinner for the family. Note that we've never celebrated Thanksgiving before and the only times I've had turkey was at Dad's Eat All You Can Buffet, the US Potato Board's Annual Thanksgiving Dinners and at Disneyland Anaheim where Paul and I shared a turkey leg. After all, it really would take a good chef to be able to impress me with turkey as I normally find it bland and dry. Thus, I really do not know why Mommy suddenly wants to celebrate Thanksgiving but I have a strong feeling a major craving for turkey has something to do with it. *wink* When Paul and I got an invite to celebrate Thanksgiving last August, we excitedly headed to Damaso Residencia which was the private residence of our dinner host, Chef Bambi Sy Gobio . Chef Bambi is also the talented lady behind the restaurant Restaurante Pia Y Damaso in Greenbelt 5. No thanks to color coding, we were the l...

A Special Potato Thanksgiving Dinner at Restaurant 9501

Image
Who doesn't love potatoes? Well, I know I do! I know my sister Pan and best friend T can't live without potatoes too! This is mainly the reason why I braved the traffic and the strong rain as Paul and I drove all the way to Restaurant 9501 to be part of a special Thanksgiving Dinner hosted by the US Potato Board . I was able to join their first Thanksgiving Dinner at M Cafe two years ago and till this day, I can't help by drool by the thought of those delicious Porcini & Truffle Gnocchi . It was simply delicious. Restaurant 9501 is a private restaurant exclusive only to ABS-CBN employees and their registered guests.  While I don't work for the network, I had the privilege to dine there a few years ago for a South African festival wherein I enjoyed my meal very much. Putting together two amazing experiences both with the US Potato Board and Restaurant 9501 , it's no wonder why I immediately sent my confirmation upon receiving their invite and was act...

A Recap: Yummy Eats -- A Cooking and Eating Fair

May 21, 2011 -- The day that I will never forget. It was the day that we've all been waiting for while praying to God that everything will just fall into place. We've all worked so hard making sure we stick to our objectives and that is to give all Yummy Eats visitors the best experience ever. It was a mix of sweat, fright and tears (luckily, no blood shed here) and I'm proud to say WE DID IT! Yummy Magazine 's biggest event to date was a HUGE SUCCESS and we got all 1200++ guests, our dear sponsors and media partners to thank for. It surely was a fun-filled day where NBC Tent was filled with food-lovers in all ages. There were 3 cooking demos, one major culinary school cook-off and more than 30 food booths to sample from. Everyone had a great time but I think I'll just let my fellow bloggers tell you more about it. Before that though, check out this cool video created by Yummy.ph . Thanksgiving Dinner at M Cafe

Image
This year, I'm thankful for wonderful surprises and opportunities that came my way. I'm also thankful for being showered with love and being able to share them with others too. Lastly, I'm thankful for all these good food... Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day and while this is still not widely practiced here in the Philippines as much as it is being done in the USA, I was fortunate enough to be invited to an intimate Thanksgiving Dinner at M Cafe which was hosted by the United States Potato Board . Together with my favorite colleagues, we arrived just in time to hear Chef Sau del Rosario's welcome remarks and a brief introduction on the dishes that will be served that evening. Basically, that night's menu consists of potatoes, potatoes and potatoes. Our dinner began with a warm platter of Potato Dill Sourdough . It has a salty, filling flavorful that was highlighted by the dill leaf on top. Up next was the Crispy Seabass with root vegetable floss, parsley brandade an...
