Admit it, what are the first 3 things that you do when you wake up in the morning? Let me make a guess -- stretch , reach for your phone/tab and check Facebook . Correct? I'm pretty sure there are more than a hundred of you nodding in agreement right now. Don't be shy... I do that too. Welcome to the social media world . Where every special milestone in your life is being celebrated by hundreds or thousands of people that's connected to you Whatever platform it may be, everyone in your network gets to witness you falling in love, getting into a relationship, being engaged and getting married. Later on, these people will also be the "first" to have a glimpse of your babies too. Social media has proven how it can reconnect lives. I personally was able to touch base with friends whom I haven't spoken to in more than a decade. That I believe is the beauty of social media.  Here at Frannywanny.com ,  I want to offer you a wider experience beyond reading ...

Let's Stay in Touch! Frannywanny on Facebook

Image
Hello my dear readers, I know I haven't been very regular in updating this blog. You see, Paul and I recently have temporary relocated to the Lion City and we have been extremely busy getting used to a whole new life here. Thankfully, we're doing very well and I, personally, have become used to and do appreciate the morning and afternoon long walks to and from the nearest bus station. I'm finally getting that much-needed exercise that I've been forever evading in Manila. Yes, I can hear my Mommy thanking the BIG GUY that I'm finally getting more physical activity. Haha! It's no secret that I miss Manila very much and while I may be in the land of Hainanese Chicken and Char Kuey Teows , I do miss food back home. Luckily though, I still have a month-long worth of Manila food stories to share with all of you. Once in a while, I'll inject some entries on my food discoveries here too. Meanwhile, let's stay in touch okay? One way is to like my Facebook...

Weekend Brunch at Seattle's Best Coffee

Image
It's FINALLY the weekend! It has been extremely busy at work for the past weeks and this will probably go on for the entire month of August too! As I brace myself with the intense thinking and preparation that we have to go through for our annual planning, part of me is also excited to present new ideas that I would like to implement for the year ahead! Despite how busy my weekdays can be, I keep my weekend sacred. Take today for example, Paul and I have a busy day ahead and to make sure we have the energy, we had a hearty brunch at Seattle's Best Coffee at the Greenhills Town Center , a new commercial complex located along Gilmore street in Ortigas. Every time we visit this place, we get to see more and more restaurants popping up. My goal is to check each and every restaurant out! I've tried Sumo Sam , the Pastry Princess and Ha Yuan to name a few. It was also upon an invitation to try the new drinks at Seattle's Best Coffee that brought us here. We started ...

Fun Field Trip with the Ford Fiesta

Image
A couple of months ago, I had the privilege to borrow the Ford Fiesta for the weekend. This invite then led to an impromptu out of town food trip to Paul's hometown in Angeles, Pampanga . Paul and I really had fun driving the Ford Fiesta as we would take turns taking this on a test drive around the city. It's small, compact yet very spacious that we were surprisingly able to fit quite a lot of Allies Wonder Peanuts ! Read more about my Ford Fiesta Food Trip over at their Official Facebook Page . Click here to access the application. See where I brought the Ford Fiesta and learn about the FOUR Fab reasons why I love it to bits! Let's go on a ride!!! Zoooooooooooooooom!!!

Unilab Ideas Positive 2011: Voting is ON!

Image
I truly admire companies who not only focuses on sales and growth but also gives just as much importance to its people and to the community. That was one reason why I was proud to work for the Green Siren as I had the privilege to be able to engage myself in CSR-related projects concerning the environment, early childhood development and the arts. Being able to help gives us that bigger sense of purpose that we are working hard to serve the community and with that, it makes everything more worthwhile. Unilab is another company that I look up to. Every year they run a contest called Unilab Ideas Positive , which is in search for the best health-related community project proposed by different college student groups. Last year, I'm proud to share that the grand prize was won by students from my alma mater, the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) wherein they have created a farm-in-the-city concept in Pasig that teaches the community to have their own sustainable source ...

Image
I am so excited for this weekend, wanna know why? :) First of all, my college friend L and her fiance T are finally getting engaged! By this I mean, they will be having their Ting Hun and we were lucky to be invited to be there on their special day. I can't believe my dear friends are finally tying the knot in less than 5 months!! What a happy happy thing to look forward to! :) Secondly, Paul and I are going on a trip... not on a plane...not even on a boat but on a van filled with 14 other bloggers and four lucky people who will be joining us on a fun food trip around town !! I saw the itinerary and I've been so excited for the trip ever since! I've never been to most places on the list thus this will be a new experience for me. Of course, since we're also celebrating our country's Independence day this weekend, the food trip is Pinoy-themed. That's the final clue I'm giving out...it will be a Pinoy Food Trip and right now I'm having visions of Cr...

As I turn 29....

.... I would like to say THANK YOU ! Through the years, this blog has been a witness at how I was able to celebrate each birthday. At 27, I listed down the three big things that I was thankful for. At 28, I made a longer wish list and I'm glad I've accomplished most of them. This year, I wanted to make another list but after thinking hard about it, I realized there's really nothing BIG that I would like to wish for...expect perhaps for a baby but that will probably come on my 30th birthday. I guess, I am a pretty contented girl. I am blessed to have the best husband in the world , a wonderful family who loves me dearly, my new family a.k.a. my in-laws who opened their arms to welcome me, friends who accepted me for who I am and who have always been there for Paul and I any time we need the support and assistance. Of course, there's Scottie who never fails to brighten up my day . ♥ My friend Sophie's right when she greeted me today and said that I am a ...

I’m a Star…Watch me Shine!

Image
*SPONSORED POST* “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I think I’ve heard this question a number of times as a child. Relatives, family friends, basically everyone and anyone older than me have thrown that question my way hoping I’d give a kiddie beauty pageant answer like “when I grow up, I want to: a) be a doctor to save lives.” b) be a lawyer to defend the poor.” c) be a superhero and save the world.” Sadly, probably to their disappointment, I had a very simple dream… “I wanted to be a housewife.” Yes, even as a little girl, I knew I wanted to meet my Prince Charming, have the cutest and smartest kids and live happily ever after. Blame it on Cinderella or Snow White but in my little world, I just want to live happily and to have a life filled with love. I never thought I’d be part of the corporate world and in fact am enjoying every moment of it. Sure, in college, I dreamt of working in a magazine industry and I was pretty specific then that I only wanted to be part of...

Frannywanny.com's mini FB contest! : ..and we have a winner!

Image
Just two months ago, I finally got around to creating Frannywanny.com's Official Facebook Page . Fast forward 60+ days after, I'm blessed to have a total of 325 likers and 205 friends who are now part of this little page of mine. Hooray! Before heading out for that much-awaited vacation with Paul, I ran a mini contest over at my Facebook account called "Where in the world is Frannywanny?" The mechanics is simple, all my Facebook friends have to do is to make a wild guess where we're headed and I promised to raffle off a special yummy gift bought from that country to the lucky guesser! I'm finally BACK and six girls guessed it right! We just got back from the happy, modern city of HONG KONG ! Paul and I spent three glorious days feasting on the best tasting congee, lots of noodles and roast meats and lastly, I was able to give Mickey and Minnie tight hugs over and over again! I'll save my Hong Kong stories for my upcoming entries. Meanwhile, I...

We're Hooked!!!

Image
Let me tell you about the best dinner that I had this week. It actually consists of a wide array of dishes mostly served on an aluminum pan and brought piping hot to our table. My friends and I feasted on the restaurant's battered cream dory with al dente pasta, hot and spicy beef curry rice and a lot more! I guess we've all have encountered this dilemma before...when we wanted to order a certain dish but the serving is just too much for one's consumption that we have to settle for something else. Finally, Fish and Co. has the perfect answer to this problem by introducing a couple of delicious entrees as part of their Just for Me menu. The first on the list was the Baked Fish Napolitana (Php. 265). It has my favorite battered cream dory fillet baked with Napolitana sauce and mozzarella cheese served on a bed of al dente spaghetti noodles. I've always been a fan of Fish and Co.'s Fish and Chips and this is the exact same fish used minus their yummy crispy fries. B...

What's your favorite comfort food?

Image
This entry was inspired by a question posted by a colleague of mine over at Facebook earlier today. My initial answers were: smoked salmon, sushi and pasta . While driving home, I pondered about it and realized that aside from those earlier mentioned, I actually have two more on my list. First is a bucket of Shakey's Mojo Potatoes and second is Cibo's Potato Chips . Cibo is definitely one of my favorite restaurant simply because of its consistency. I love its Farfalle alla Genovese from the time I first tried it, which incidentally happens to also be my first visit to Cibo, and I can't help but order this every single time I dine there. Accurately put, it has been five years of me loving that pasta dish. Another must-order is their Patatine Fritte a.k.a. Potato Chips. It began as a complimentary appetizer which later became a part of their menu. I love the crisp homemade-style potato chips and the yummy aoili dip as well. Yum yum yum! How about you? What's your favo...
