Sunday Champagne Brunch at The Line in Shangri-la Singapore

Image
Question: What is much better that a weekend brunch?  Answer: One with free-flowing champagne and an abundant choices of food, of course!  One of the highlights of our relaxing staycation at the Garden Wing of Shangri-la Singapore was the Sunday Champagne Brunch at The Line . As you know, The Line is one of our favourite hotel buffet restaurants in the Lion City, so we couldn't resist not having brunch there before checking out. More so, we have been getting non-stop raves about the premium offerings that you can find in this buffet line-up so we knew that we just have to go for it. Let me walk you through the different selections that you can find in the buffet: First, you start with some fresh seafood . From three kinds of crabs (King Crab, Sri Lankan and Alaskan Snow Crab) to air-flown oysters to the most plump and juicy tiger prawns, be sure to fill your first place with all these! Paul went wild with his favourite tiger prawns with marinara sauce while I ...

Brunch Love : Artistry Cafe in Jalan Pinang

Image
Often times, I'd say that Singapore  is Asia's booming food mecca. Seriously, you'll never run out of things to eat here. Think of any cuisine and chances are you'll find it here in the Lion City. From hawker centres to restaurants, there has also been an abundant growth of cafes for the past two years and that has brought about a nationwide love for brunch. With the many choices available, I have to admit that it's really hard to find a favorite. Sure, there's that hawker stall that knows exactly how I want my Seafood Fried Rice cooked (no peas, no corn) or that kopi shop selling my favorite Iced Kopi-C and Steamed Chicken Pau but other than that, it's really hard to specify one or two restaurants that I would end up visiting over and over again. I'd say it would take a special establishment to make me go back for two consecutive weeks at the very least.  I must have said that before I actually went to Artistry Cafe . Once again, an interest...

Symmetry Cafe Singapore : From Day to Night

Image
There's really something about cafes that give that nice calming effect. Must be the nice aroma of the coffee or the light chatter of the people around me. During my weekly me-time moments, I always find that sense of peace while enjoying a nice cup of Flat White together with my choice of brunch as I read a new book or simply stare off into space. However, when that cafe would make me want to go back again and again, then I know that it has successful won my heart and it will permanently stay there for years to come. Yes, I'm THAT loyal. After all, I was born on the Year of the Dog.  *arf!* I think I have found my favourite cafe in the Lion City the moment I step inside Symmetry Cafe . How I ended up having brunch there was purely accidental. You see, I was a few hours early for a work-related event and with my growling tummy, I roamed the streets of Kampong Glam  in search of a nice cafe to hang out in. Then I remembered I and C telling me about Symmetry Cafe . A quick ...

Weekend Brunch at The White Rabbit, Singapore

Image
"I'm late, I'm late for a very important date!" This line just got to be the most memorable one that has stuck with me throughout all these years after watching Alice in Wonderland. It's the line delivered by the White Rabbit. Here in Singapore, The White Rabbit means much more than the furry white character in the book, it also stands for one of the best fine dining place in the island and as our friends L & T came to visit us last weekend, I figured that it's the best place for us to catch up while enjoying their popular weekend brunch too. What makes dining at The White Rabbit so interesting is the fact that you can enjoy the beautiful interiors inside. It's actually a restaurant and bar that's housed within a restored old chapel so as we walked up the mini hill towards the restaurant, Paul was quite unsure if this was indeed The White Rabbit as it looks like a chapel from the outside. "Are you sure this is it?" , he asked...

Sunday Brunch Date at District 10 Bar & Restaurant

Image
So what's a normal Sunday for Paul and I?  Waking up later than usual, slowly moving around the house as we do our weekend chores, cooking and enjoying a nice home-cooked meal, further lazing by the pool and heading out later in the afternoon to hear mass. Basically, Sunday mornings are non-existent in our lives as we'd use these precious hours catching up on lost sleep incurred during the weekday. While we love this relaxing routine, we also do love to do things spontaneously once in a while. This is perhaps the reason why getting an invite to have a nice Sunday brunch got us up and out of the house right before noon. After all, a good and delicious weekend brunch is indeed a perfect motivation for us to wake up early and to head out just to satisfy our growling tummies. This was what happened when we visited District 10 Bar & Restaurant at Star Vista  one Sunday. I've heard of District 10 but I didn't know that they're open for brunch as most of my...

Tiong Bahru Bakery by Gontran Cherrier, Singapore

Image
I have to admit, I was never a bread person. Given the chance I would choose to eat pasta and noodles all day followed by rice. However, as you get older, your preference changes. While I still love my pasta and noodle dishes, I've also learned to appreciate having a sandwich as a meal. What more when I was introduced to all the delicious combinations and bread options there is. I love croissants most especially the wholemeal kind, bagels are also something I'm really fond of and the more unique the bread is, the most inclined I am in trying it. However, nothing beats our local Pan de Sal filled with a wide-variety of spreads one can think of. So, one lazy Sunday, Paul and I decided to check out Tiong Bahru Bakery with my dear Mommy who came to visit us for the weekend. Mommy, as you all know, is a very healthy and simple eater. She doesn't like anything creamy, deep-fried or overly sweet. So, when I told her about Tiong Bahru Bakery , I sold the idea by saying that we...

PS. Cafe in Ann Siang Hill, Singapore

Image
If there's one question that I always find challenging to answer it would be that infamous -- "what's your most favorite restaurant in the world." This question never fails to leave me speechless, a bit stunned and my mind always boggled until I finally get to blurt out an answer. I'm pretty sure foodies out there can totally relate with my problem. You see, it's not that there's no good restaurants around but in fact, there's quite a lot and it's hard to say which one is better than the other. Often times, I'd settle for my top 3 and this would vary depending on what restaurant comes to my mind at the moment. What I noticed though is that I like a certain kind of restaurant -- normally I go for stylish cafes or restaurants that offer dishes that I would consider as comfort food. These restaurants have a very relaxed ambiance where I would enjoy brunch, lunch or afternoon tea with my mom/sister/girl friend and/or a nice and quiet dinner wit...

Weekend Brunch at Open Door Policy, Singapore

Image
Finally, after buying my two boxes of yummy cupcakes from Plain Vanilla Bakery , I headed over to Open Door Policy where I've made reservations for my Saturday brunch. I got to the door of the restaurant at exactly 11AM making me the first customer to enter that day. If you remember, I've blogged about Open Door Policy a month back when Paul and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary here . While our dinner was pretty good, I had this nagging feeling inside me that a return visit is in order and somehow, I just have to try their brunch menu. So, while waiting for my friends to arrive, I began reading the one-pager menu. Service was superb as always. The moment the server saw that I've settled into my seat, he asked if I want anything to drink. You can actually get some bubbly in the morning but I'm being a goody goody girl and just got a bottle of Fiji water for us to share. Finally, A and J arrived just in time and while catching up with one another, we mad...
