Back at Cibo : Trying Something "New"

Image
Happy Easter!  I hope that you were all able to have a good and peaceful Holy Week. After all, it was the perfect time to reflect, to repent and to have hope for He has risen again. As for me, I spent it with my family and gave my kids my undivided attention.  Given that the past week was all about family, let me share with you one of my family's favorite restaurants. With all our varying tastes, it honestly is difficult to agree on a restaurant because what may be good for me, may not be something my parents would be keen on trying or returning to and so on. Cibo is a place where we're all happy to dine in and it's simply for these 3 reasons:  #1 Quality is always top notch. We can always expect their pasta noodles to be al dente and tasty, their pizza perfected baked and they have a good selection of hot and cold beverages too.  #2 Service is always consistent. No matter which Cibo branch we go to, we are always well taken cared of by their staff.  #3 They ...

#FrannyCooks : Crema di Zucca (Pumpkin Cream Soup)

Image
Over the Christmas/New Year break, I brought back with me a new toy -- my Oster Hand Blender ! Actually, I've had it since our wedding day in 2010 but since we first lived with my in laws and later moved to my parents' house, I never really got around to using my own appliances or cooking utensils as Mommy has kept the kitchen complete with practically everything that I could possibly need. I was so excited about this and I've been day dreaming about all the different things that I can create using my blender. First was to recreate my favorite Crema di Zucca from Cibo which is a rich and yummy Pumpkin Cream Soup. After researching across a dozen (or even more) recipes, I found the one that I like and kept it on bookmark for the next two weeks. As soon as my work ended last Monday, I made a mad dash to the grocery which thankfully is just located across my office building. I've memorized all the ingredients that I needed and within 15 minutes I was on my way hom...

Playing Favourites : Cibo (Philippines)

Image
As a food bloggers, friends and even strangers would come up to me and ask one common question: What is you most favourite restaurant ?   What may seem like an easy question to some is actually one that has left me stumped a couple of times as I rack my brain like it's some kind of a filing cabinet as I try to recall all those amazing, I-could-die-now dining moments. After having the privilege to dine in hundreds of restaurants in the Philippines alone, I realized that finding my favourite restaurant wasn't exactly all about focusing on the swanky and classy ones that serves caviar, foie gras and a lot more dishes most of us could hardly pronounce properly. It's all about being extremely comfortable when dining in there that it will definitely be the one that I'd automatically go to when I'm feeling down or when I'm just craving for a surefire good meal. That said, one of my favourite restaurants in the Philippines  is none other than Cibo . I have been a lo...

Meatless Friday at Cibo

Image
It was yet another meatless Friday for me, however this did not stop me from heading over to Cibo at the Shangri-la Mall to enjoy a relaxing dinner with two of my favorite girl friends. I have always loved Cibo for its consistent quality and superb service. In fact, I have my regular set of dishes that I regularly order and it never fails to disappoint me every time I visit. While bonding with my friends K and B, we agreed to order the Patatine con Maionese (Php. 110) otherwise known as Potato Chips with Garlic Aoili as starters. I really love Cibo's Garlic Aioli and couldn't help dipping each piece of crunchy potato chip before taking a bite. Yum! K chose the Fiori di Zucca pizza (Php. 330) to which both B and I agreed to. This is a perfect choice for all seafood and veggie lover! It's topped with squash flower, anchovies and lots of cheese! A very light type of pizza that makes it perfectly ok to take in a slice or two. Finally, while choosing our pasta, I asked K a...

What's your favorite comfort food?

Image
This entry was inspired by a question posted by a colleague of mine over at Facebook earlier today. My initial answers were: smoked salmon, sushi and pasta . While driving home, I pondered about it and realized that aside from those earlier mentioned, I actually have two more on my list. First is a bucket of Shakey's Mojo Potatoes and second is Cibo's Potato Chips . Cibo is definitely one of my favorite restaurant simply because of its consistency. I love its Farfalle alla Genovese from the time I first tried it, which incidentally happens to also be my first visit to Cibo, and I can't help but order this every single time I dine there. Accurately put, it has been five years of me loving that pasta dish. Another must-order is their Patatine Fritte a.k.a. Potato Chips. It began as a complimentary appetizer which later became a part of their menu. I love the crisp homemade-style potato chips and the yummy aoili dip as well. Yum yum yum! How about you? What's your favo...
