Everything with Fries at Holland Village

Image
"If only Pan and T were here with me, this would probably be their wonderland." This was the thought that entered my mind when Paul, O and I decided to have lunch at Everything with Fries . A quick look at their menu will tell you that they're taking this fries-loving quite seriously and staying true to their name, almost every item in the menu comes with a generous serving of fries. Yes, you can have a rice meal with fries, a burger with fries, a pasta dish with fries and more! Matching the relaxed vibe of Holland Village, dining at Everything with Fries will give you that laid-back feel as you enjoy your meal with friends and family. Service was good as our server was pretty much attentive to our every need.

Cookie Butter Showdown : Biscoff vs. Trader Joe's

Image
Manila has seriously turned into a foodie mecca. Gone are the days wherein people are contented with the limited choices of restaurants and they would visit the same ones week in and out. Today, food trends are flying in and around the city, a good number of foodies would roam the streets in search for the latest find and one would go beyond the 7,107 islands of the country in order to satisfy his/her tummy with the yummiest thing out there. We're a rice eating country but lately people are starting to buy more bread and to bring a sandwich to work is the next in thing. Why is that? If you ask me, I'm pointing to these two bottles as the main culprits -- meet Trader Joe's Speculoos Cookie Butter and Lotus Biscoff Spread . Trader Joe's Speculooos Crunchy Cookie Butter (Left) + Lotus Biscoff Spread (Right) It all happened so fast, one day Peanut Butter and Jelly ruled the land and the next day it was these two spreads fighting for the limelight on the sandwich ...

Back at The Cheese Steak Shop in Amorsolo, Makati

Image
Paul and I love sandwiches. Back when we were dating, there was actually a period then when we would go to Subway every so often and share a footlong sandwich. Our staple variant was the one with shredded kani sticks with mayonnaise. We loved it so much that we were both so sad that they decided to remove it from the menu permanently. I guess our regular patronage wasn't enough to keep it up on the menu board for a long period of time. Aside from Subway, we also love bun sandwiches -- beefy burger for him, crunchy and deep-fried fish sandwich for me. However, when it comes to Cheesesteak sandwiches , there's only one place in Manila that has won our hearts and loyalty. That's the Cheese Steak Shop along Amorsolo street in Makati . More than a year ago, we first visited The Cheese Steak Shop back in their first location along Arnaiz road . The move wasn't too drastic as they literally moved just a few block away. This store had more parking spaces but it can still b...

Snack Time : KFC BBQ Shredder Sandwich

Image
A day after the incident , I went home feeling under the weather. I guess my resistance suddenly went down and I immediately felt my tonsils acting up again. Well, there was this white paper bag that caught my eye and somehow, it made me smile. Like what I said before, surprising me with food is always ALWAYS a good thing. Thank you Col. Sanders!  I peeked inside and found three red boxes that are quite similar to the kind that we'd use for Mom's chocolate cupcakes. Instead of having cupcakes or any sweet treats inside, KFC filled each box with the new BBQ Shredder Sandwich . Yep, that's the name of the new sandwich. If you ask me, I find using the word 'shredder' a bit off. Those in the corporate world would associate the shredder with trash. We shred all unnecessary documents, we shred all unused forms and memos, we shred all things we have to dispose. I personally wouldn't use the word "shredder" when food is involved. Well, that's me so ...

Cheese Steak Shop lands in Makati City

Image
I've tried a number of Philly Cheese Steaks in the past but I never really got around to learning about its history. It was until that fateful evening when Paul and I got an invite to have dinner at the Cheese Steak Shop in Makati where we were told of the Philly Cheese Steak story and how it finally found its way here in Manila, Philippines. Given the name, this sandwich originated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by a couple who began serving thinly sliced steaks and cheese in a long sandwich bun. Very similar to a hotdog sandwich, the craze about this meaty sandwich spread like wildfire and soon Philly Cheese Steaks are not only available in Philadelphia but in other states all around the USA as well. Take Cheese Steak Shop for instance. It originated in San Francisco 29 years ago (yes, same age as me!) and makes use of authentic ingredients such as their Amoroso rolls and Tastykakes which are shipped all the way from Philadelphia. Here in Manila, we have owner Mai Uy to...

Mad Mark’s : Man Sandwich + Frozen D in Pasig

Image
Welcome to Brgy. Kapitolyo in Pasig – the newest foodie haven in town. Believe me, a trip down East Capitol Drive is like a gastronomical journey around the world. Start from the corner of Pioneer you’ll see Nav and Uncle Moe’s which will give you really delicious Thai and Mediterranean dishes respectively. Drive further down and you’ll hit Kainan Au Gusto and Café Juanita located just around the corner for our local Pinoy fare. As you continue with your drive, you’ll see The Three Sisters' restaurant, the place to get really yummy Pork BBQ and Pancit Bihon and my latest fave – Milky and Sunny , an all-day breakfast nook. Go on another block and you’ll see another line of restaurants like Poco Deli for some cheese and sausages while Lia’s Cakes in Season makes a great dessert stop. Care for some burgers? Charlie’s Grill and Grind is located right across and is right beside Bacolod’s Café Bob’s Manila version – Cab Café . There’s still a couple of restaurant left for m...

Fire up with KFC Zinger Double Down

Image
One Friday evening, I was having dinner with my family when the doorbell rang and our househelp called me saying that someone was looking for me. I walked to the gate and saw a fire fighter running towards my direction and he seemed like he came from the other street. He stopped to open his bag and carefully pulled out a white paper bag telling me to be careful because the content is really hot. I laughed as I was handed the new KFC Zinger Double Down , true the sandwich seems to be pretty warm so I handled it with extra care. "Tawag nalang po kayo sa Fire Department pag sobrang init po ma'am" (Please call the fire department if it's too hot, Ma'am) was his last line before he left.  As he left, Paul and I quickly went to the dining table to try the sandwich out. At first, it tasted like the regular double down sandwich but wait till the spiciness starts kicking and yes, I was in the verge of calling the fire department as I can feel my taste buds on fire ....

[CONTEST ALERT] Frannywanny's Annual Starbucks Christmas Giveaway!

Image
A week ago, I shared the good news about the soon-to-be released Starbucks 2012 Planner ! This got everyone so excited that in the span of a week, the entry spread like wildfire, being shared over Facebook, Twitter and a lot more. Everyday I get so excited seeing how I have help spread the Christmas joy to everyone. The entry became pretty popular that sadly, some of my photos (minus the watermark) were copied by a certain Tumblr user who at present had deleted not only her entry but her Tumblr account as well. *sigh* Thus fellow bloggers, beware of plagiarizers! Well, I stayed pretty calm about it as I'm definitely not allowing her to burst my Christmas bubble. Let us just move on and learn from this, shall we? Starting from this entry, expect to see my watermark right smack in the middle of the photo. Let me know what you think. :) Tomorrow, November 3, Starbucks Coffee Philippine s will officially launch their much-awaited Christmas campaign. I've showed you the beauti...

Starbucks Coffee : Hot Lunch Sandwiches

Image
One thing is for sure... blogging with an empty stomach can be hazardous to your health. I'm typing this before having breakfast and I can literally hear my stomach growling like a mad lion. To torture me even further, I am about to share with you something so delicious that the thought of it can really make my mouth water (and my stomach rumble louder). Yes, I'm such a sadist. *sigh* Last Monday, Paul and I were invited by my former colleagues of Starbucks Coffee to try a couple of new lunch sandwiches that they will be launching soon. I was so excited as knowing my talented friend C, who takes care of R&D for our local Starbucks food items, these sandwich are sure to be delicious! I remember back when I was still working for the Green Siren and C was working on those breakfast sandwiches , oh how I enjoyed hanging out with her at the training room as I watch her heat up samples after samples of sandwiches and she would generously share them with me. Now you know...

Pesto Break at Pedeli Gourmet Kitchen

Image
Whenever I drive myself home from work, once in a while, I'd find myself craving for pasta. As always, my dilemma is where to get good pesto pasta. There used to be a stall at the food court of our office building that sells this..it was pretty oily, not the best quality but I stayed loyal to it for almost a year. At home, this has been my constant request, it used to just be every Monday where Mommy would ask our helper to prepare pesto spaghetti for dinner. However, now we would ask for this almost twice a week or more. Back when I still had Bo (the Basil) , I was planning on making my own pesto sauce. Bo, after all, was very cooperative. He grew to be a very healthy and fragrant basil plant with lots of leaves. However, I became very busy and didn't had the time to source for the other ingredients needed to make my own pesto sauce. Thus, I've resorted to stocking up on bottles of pesto sauces as home. Still, I know nothing beats enjoying a plate of piping hot al dente ...

Grab a Slab at Chuck's Deli

Image
Most of the time, I would bring lunch to work. This is mainly due to three reasons : #1 I am very lazy to go down and look for food... #2 It doesn't hurt to save a few bucks to give me more reason to splurge during the weekends and... #3 I find bringing my own lunch to work healthier as my mom makes sure we eat well everyday. Once in a while, I would request that I will just have a sandwich for lunch. It's when I want to cut back on my fat and calorie intake and when I know I have a busy day ahead. The only problem I get though is that our new cook is no gourmet chef and her sandwiches pretty much consist of bread + filling. At times, I find myself very hungry and all I got was a piece of tasty with a thin slice of ham. No dressings, no greens, nothing. I almost wanted to cry out of hunger. Oh how I miss our old cook M, who would create superb sandwiches that would truly make my day. No matter how hard my mom would teach her to be more creative, we'd still end up get...

Sandwich Fever at Delifrance

Image
I've always been a fan of Delifrance's sandwiches! I love mixing and matching different meats and spreads to their soft breads. My favorites include the Norwegian Smoked Salmon on Ciabatta Bread (Php. 179) and the good ol' Crabstick Celery on French Baguette (Php. 139). Lately, we're loving their newest sandwich offering, the French Dip Roast Beef (Php. 149) that's oh-so-sinful but very delicious that you couldn't resist but order this in every visit. I love it that their beef is quite lean and it's very flavorful. It's served with gravy but it's actually good even without it. I love dining at Delifrance not just for breakfast but for any time of the day. Delifrance has more than 20 branches in Luzon.
