Home Baker on Spotlight : Pellegrino's Blueberry Cheesecake

Image
Just like that, we're on to the 5th month of the year and that means... 7 months to go till Christmas! :) What makes the 1st of May extra special is it's Pan's birthday ! I feel so sad that we're currently not in Manila to celebrate this day with her. However, we made sure to celebrate this day in spirit! First, we helped "blow her birthday candle" here in the Lion City! This was followed by having a delicious buffet dinner with the yummiest dishes which I'll tell you more about in my next post. For my family, birthdays will never be complete without two things -- a birthday cake and lots of greeting cards. My parents would ensure that we would receive a birthday card every single year and not a year has gone by without it. It's one of the highlights of our birthdays, waking up and seeing a nicely written card by Mommy and Papa. As for the cake, we have our tradition of blowing our the candle and slicing it for everyone to enjoy. Each one has hi...

Food Spotting : Cow Cheesecake from Farm Designs

Image
My hubby Paul is such a foodie. Yes, a genuinely, certified foodie. This is definitely one reason why we believe we're a match made in (foodie) heaven. In fact, I'm starting to believe that he's a biggest food lover than I am. For one, he just loves watching cooking shows on YouTube and on TV and would remember every single detail of the dishes being demonstrated. If he likes it so much, he'd even try cooking it making me his happy food taster. I guess this is his Campampangan side showing. During one of our weekend shopping trips to Takashimaya Department Store  where we ended up walking around the basement level, he instantly stopped at one of those kiosks selling cheesecakes. I initially thought nothing of it until it seemed like there was no sign of him leaving that kiosk anytime soon. He excitedly told me that he knows about that cheesecake as he saw it on TV and quickly went to buy a slice. Woah! Normally, it was me who would go and immediately splurge on foo...

Green Cheese Japanese Cheesecake, Hole in the Wall Food Hall

Image
I sure hope that you all had a good start to your week! Coming from such an action-packed weekend, I'm glad that I had a relatively calm and steady Monday to match my sleepy state. Had it been one that's crazy and stressful, I would have probably went nuts! Then, I remembered this mouthwatering Japanese Cheesecake that I recently had back in Manila. The thought of it was enough to put a smile on my face. Not the cutesy, Mona Lisa-like smile but the kind that is so infectious that will surely spread around in minutes. Something like this... Isn't this the cutest thing? Opening soon in Manila, Green Cheese will soon allow the public to have a bite (or more) of its fluffy and soft Japanese Cheesecake that literally melts-in-your-mouth. I just love the custard-like texture that's so milky you just want to laze in bed in your PJs while indulging on this delectable creation all day long. We tried it warm and right after placing it in the fridge and I personally prefer ...

FIC present Vermont Classic Frozen Custards

Image
I took the leap last Monday! For someone who is deadly scared of blood, vaccines and pain in general, I bravely headed to the dentist and had my bothersome wisdom tooth pulled out. To be honest, I was still hoping the pain caused by the irregular alignment of my poking wisdom tooth would go away but after days for not being able to chew on yummy pizza as well having difficulty in munching on chips and a lot more, I knew I HAD to do something. Happily, I survived the procedure and walked out of the dentist clinic alive. I'm still undergoing a recovery stage now wherein all I can eat are soft and cold food items. For days, I have been eating mashed potato and ice cream every single meal. I love them very much but I think I have seriously went beyond my annual consumption quota for both already. Call it perfect timing that my friends over at Fruits in Ice Cream (FIC) sent over a bag filled with 3 pint containers of frozen delights. The labels says Vermont Classic Frozen Custar...

Cheesecake Factory in California, USA

Image
Tonight, L and I celebrated the start of our real vacation here in the US. She's heading to the east to bond with her siblings while I will be joining Paul as we explore cool and laid-back California. Taking the recommendation of our business partner here in the US, he told us not to miss out on visiting Fashion Island in Newport Beach . This area is part of my list as I would love to check out the setting of the hit TV series, The O.C . Although, I'm not a fan nor a viewer of the show, I'd still like to see the place myself. As Irvine is purely a business district filled with tall office buildings, Newport has a different vibe. With huge houses and lush greeneries, it definitely looks and feel like this is the upscale part of the Orange Country. Fashion Mall is HUGE! I'm simply amazed that major retailers would really acquire a huge piece of real estate as most shops in this part of town is almost of the same size as our average supermarket back home. This, I...

Rejuvenate. Revive. Relax. at Starbucks

Image
After indulging in all those to-die-for sweet desserts and heart-stopping, cholesterol-loaded dishes during the holiday season, Starbucks Coffee has launched their new line of healthy drinks and food items for us to enjoy (minus the guilt!). I was so excited to check them out that I dropped by my office Starbucks store one day early. The barista, trying her best to suppress her laughter and amusement, just told me to come back the following day. Of course, I did as told and found myself leaving the store with a short warm Green Tea Soy Latte on my hand. mmmmmm...! Tonight, Paul and I tried the Granola Yogurt Cheesecake (Php. 120/slice). This cake reminded me of one dinner that I had with my friends a couple of months ago. After dinner, I treated them to dessert which includes a Granola Cheesecake that some of my colleagues truly love. Knowing that my friends love anything healthy, I figured that they will enjoy this cake as well. Thankfully, I was right! Paul and I took one look at t...
