Omakase again and again

Image
I remember days before the wedding, I found myself majorly craving for Omakase . Oh how my mouth waters at the thought of its creamy Uni Sashimi and crunchy Seafood Dumplings. Since our schedule has been hectic and we left the country shortly after our BIG day, it took me a while to be reunited with my favorite Japanese dishes. When my good friend A invited me out to dinner to catch up and plan for her upcoming wedding, I suggested that we go to Omakase as nothing beats bonding with your friend over good food. We were both hungry that evening that we ordered a feast! I began with my favorite Uni Sashimi , which I requested that they served extra chilled as recommended by my sister -- a fellow Uni lover. Since A does not eat raw food, she allowed me to indulge and enjoy the plate the Uni all by myself. I love you A! :) As usual, Omakase's Uni is one of the best that I've tasted so far, it's so creamy and it does not have a slimey texture that can become pretty overwh...

Love at first taste of Uni

Image
I've always been intrigued by it but never had the guts to go ahead and try it..it wasn't under Jane made me taste a piece from her platter and that officially marked the beginning of my love affair with Uni . Uni actually means sea urchin in Japanese and this has been a popular delicacy in most sushi bars. I think it's safe to compare this with caviar, a teeny-tiny bit is just enough to complete your meal. It's that perfect seafood indulgence that we should entitle ourselves to once in a while. Since this is raw, make sure to have your Uni Sushi in places with a good reputation for their hygiene and food preparation. Take also a piece of wasabi with your soy sauce for extra caution. I love the buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture of the Uni. There will definitely be more Uni moments in the future. *photo by Paul Ang This Uni Sushi was enjoyed at Omakase . Located at the 2nd floor of the Intrepid Plaza, E. Rodriguez Ave., Libis, Quezon City. Contact them at ...

Japanese Food Fest: Omakase

Image
I don't know why but I never get tired of sushi . This is the reason why I immediately suggested that we dine at Omakase the moment an old college friend and her boyfriend invited Paul and I to meet up. The thought of the spicy tuna salad and the delicious sushi creations never fails to make me hungry. As always, the entire restaurant was packed with happy customers even on a weeknight. It's a good thing that there was an available table for four that can accommodate us. It was a breeze scanning their menu as I already knew what to get. Our Sushi Feast Paul and I decided to share on one appetizer, a sushi platter and a savory item. We still wanted to make our dinner light so we skipped on the rice and noodle varieties. First off was my personal favorite -- the Spicy Tuna Salad . This has a generous serving of fresh tuna sashimi cubes mixed with their special spicy dressing and garnished with tempura flakes and chopped spring onions. I also love the addition of the crunchy or...

Craving for Sushi?

Image
Once in a while, a girl craves from something delicious and whenever she craves for this it is definitely a must and NOT an option to make sure this gets fulfilled. Just recently, I was really craving for sushi -- oh, I dream of slices of mouthwatering salmon sashimi, the brightest orange ebiko (fish roe) and a huge platter of assorted mini makis. Paul, being the sweetest boyfriend that he is, agreed to drive all the way to Quezon City just to satisfy my sushi craving. Just a word of caution though, when it comes to sushi and eating raw food items, be sure to dine only in reputable restaurants. This is to avoid getting unexpected stomach illnesses or worst, food poisoning. For us, the best sushi can be found in Omakase . We used to be regular customers of their Libis branch and were delighted to find out that they just recently moved to a bigger and better location in Il Terrazzo in Tomas Morato, Quezon City. Regulars of Omakase will be surprised and delighted with the new interiors ...
